Adobe Kuler - Color Addiction

I wanted to take a moment to introduce you to Adobe Kuler.
Frequently clients requesting design will ask me questions like "can you make that more blue?". The problem with that request is that it's very vague. In a computer world of 16 million colors, the question is like asking me to find a specific grain of sand on your favorite beach.
For years I have struggled to find a great way of crossing that gap between your idea of "ideal" and my understanding of it. Adobe Kuler is one of the best and addictive little apps I've encountered. I should also add that it's free and is not for developers only. It's very user friendly and allows for custom color schemes by using a color picker (complementary, monochromatic and compound), or (one of my favorite features) the ability to chose colors from graphics or photos.
So grab your favorite Flickr photo or upload your logo and go to work. Remember when working with a web developer or print shop, you may have to provide both RGB and CYMK color schemes. Don't worry! Adobe Kuler has you covered by displaying both. Enjoy! |
